Device Prevents People from Driving While Intoxicated

Smart Start is one of several companies that makes and markets an ignition lock (or breath lock). For a successful test on the Smart Start model, drivers must blow into the device for a count of seven. For the last four counts, drivers must hum. The voice-recognition feature keeps people from using a hair dryer, stiff wind or friend as a substitute test-taker. Once the test is passed and the vehicle is fired up, the device will ask for retests on a random time cycle. Alaska has even introduced legislation for the ignition interlock devices last year.
